Parents are a Priority
Parenting a child who is struggling can be overwhelming. At Thriving Minds, supporting parents is part of our mission, and we understand that each of our child clients exist within the greater context of family, home and school. While we work directly with children to provide them with the tools and support to better navigate their worlds, we also like to empower parents as an active part of the treatment team. Clinicians regularly engage with parents when your child is in individual treatment. You can also take advantage of parent-specific treatment programs, such as the Parent Problem Solving Program or schedule an individual parent consultation to discuss specific issues.
Parents are Involved from the Beginning
Parent involvement starts with your very first meeting, when you meet with one of our clinical team in an initial parent consultation session. We offer parents guidance and support right away, even if your child has to move to our wait list. You’ll be provided with relevant educational resources and literature to help guide your own behavior and communication, as well as some preliminary strategy recommendations.
Ongoing Communication
Once your child is in individual treatment, parents continue to meet with the clinician on a regular basis to gain support and parenting strategies that augment the child’s treatment. While this is particularly relevant for our younger population, it continues even with our teen clients, all while maintaining the teen’s privacy and sense of treatment ownership.
We understand that bringing your child to therapy can be challenging, and we value both your support and participation as we collaborate to help your child maximize their potential and thrive.
